Make it a night to remember in this gorgeous uneven hem dress pattern. Look like a million bucks without spending nearly that much by sewing up this stunning party dress.

You'll need:

  • Your Cara PDF pattern
  • Preferred fabric
  • Color matching thread
  • interlining
  • 4 small buttons
  • Sewing machine

Seam Allowances

  • 0 cm hem
  • 1 cm seams

Fabric Suggestion:

A light weight woven fabric, such as silk, viscose, or veil, is recommended

How much fabric do you need for your diy dress?

Using the chart below, you can figure out how much fabric you'll need for your size. It is calculated for a typical fabric width which is between 140 and 150 centimeters. Be sure to adjust the pieces so they will fit correctly if you are going to use a different width or design (such as stripes, for example).

Check your contraction!

Please read! You should check the fabric's contraction before cutting. It is recommended to iron steam raw materials at their maximum recommended temperature. This will ensure a true fit and won't shrink after the first wash. You can protect yourself from shrinkage by purchasing 5% more than you need.

How To Sew It

Sewing Instructions

  • Apply interlining on the cuffs and the facings
  • Take the front bodice pieces and form the folds at the waist and sew at 0.5 cm
  • Sew the back shoulders with the front shoulders, overlock the seam allowance and iron the seam
  • Sew the bodice side seam, overlock and iron
  • Sew the front facings with the back facing and iron the seams open. The outer part of the final shape is overlocked.
  • Sew the facing on the neckline, starting with one chest and ending with the other, being careful to match the notches. Then give a topstitch at 0.2 cm on the facing, catching the 2 layers of seam allowances. Turn the shape inwards and iron the neckline and fix it to the shoulders with a topstitch
  • Overlock the center fronts of the skirt. Turn the edges inwards according to the notches on the pattern and iron. Then sew a seam at 4 cm for fixing
  • Take the skirt pieces and sew the side seams. Iron the seams and overlock
  • Sew the ruffles together, iron and overlock the seams
  • The free edges (center front) are overlocked, turned inwards 1cm and sewn at 0.7cm
  • Make the hem of the ruffle with a Merrow Stitch at the serger
  • Apply the ruffle on the skirt, taking care to match the notches. Overlock the seam and iron
  • Sew the skirt with the bust, taking care to place the center of the skirt between the chest and fit for a beautiful finish. Overlock the seam and iron
  • Sew the 2 buttonholes at the waist, respecting the points on the pattern. The related buttons are also sewn
  • Apply the bias on the sleeve slit
  • Gather the top of the sleeve between the given notches, making 2 parallel rods with a large pitch and then pulling on the ends of the thread until you reach the desired size.
  • Close the sleeve, overlock the seam allowance and iron
  • The cuffs are created
  • Gather the bottom of the sleeves at a great pace and mount them carefully in the cuff
  • Sew the sleeve on the armhole, overlock and iron
  • Sew the buttonholes to the cuffs and buttons
  • Sew the cord
