How much fabric do you need for your diy blouse?
The amount of fabric required is determined by the width of your material. Following a 140-150cm common fabric width, the requirements are provided in the table below. Depending on what kind of cloth you are using (for instance, stripes or plaids), the pieces will need to be adjusted so that the available width is optimized.
Check your contraction!
Make sure the fabric has contracted before you cut it. When the cloth is steam-pressed at its maximum heat setting, the finished garment will maintain its size after washing and will not shrink during laundering. To be on the safe side, it is a good idea to buy 5% more than what your project will require.
