A Deep Plunge V Neck Dress Pattern That Will Get All The Compliments

It's time to get your party on!

We've created this mini dress sewing pattern that's perfect for cocktail parties and other events where you want to look your best.

Let me show you how to sew up a deep v neck dress!

You'll need:

  • Your Poppy Long Sleeves Dress Pattern
  • Preferred fabric
  • Color matching thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Interlining for waist
  • Lining
  • Reinforcement tape
  • 1 invisible zipper
  • elastic 1 cm wide

Seam Allowance:

  • 1.4 cm hem (double turned hem)
  • 1 cm for all seams

Suggested fabrics:

We want to help you make the most of your creativity by showing you how to choose the fabric that will be best for this v cut dress pattern, so that you can see the best results when you stitch it. The pattern is designed for mid weight fabrics, like stretch satin or stretch taffeta. And that's what we did when making our sample-we used stretch taffeta woven fabric, but we think satin would make an equally beautiful dress

How much fabric do you need for your diy dress?

Below are the fabric requirement for each size, based on a fabric width of 140-150cm. If you are making your garment out of a different fabric width or pattern (like stripes, plaids, etc.) you may need to adjust the placement of the pieces so the garment will fit correctly.

Check your contraction!

If you're looking to make a garment that fits like a dream, there's one more thing you should do before cutting your material. Before you cut your material, check its contraction. If you're using a fabric that contracts when it's washed, make sure you have enough extra fabric to account for that change.

The contractibility of a fabric is a measure of how much the material shrinks when it's washed or exposed to heat. This can affect the size and fit of your finished garment, so it's important to know before you cut.

The best way to check for contraction is by steam ironing the fabric at its highest recommended temperature.
