We know what it takes to look fabulous, but we also know that the secret to great style is simplicity. So if you're looking for an easy outfit and flexible enough to fit any occasion, you're in luck! This off the shoulder jumpsuit pattern will take you everywhere and anywhere and will bring out your best features. Forget the LBD. This romper is going to be your new go-to.

How To Style And Wear Your DIY Jumpsuit Sewing Pattern

If you are on a mission to dazzle everyone during all future special events (how about winning that best dressed wedding attendee challenge?) , our fitted jumpsuit sewing pattern can help you do just that. The elegant flared leg jumpsuit style will lengthen your silhouette while letting the off-the-shoulder design add a touch of sexiness to your ensemble. Choose a small chain bag and a statement-making pair of killer heels. Satin pointy toes are all the rage right now - just saying.

Make sure to keep your footwear relatively slim and try to avoid chunky soles as they will take away from the slim silhouette (you can try high heels sandals). Instead of wearing your trusted necklaces, opt for a pair of crystal earrings and a few rows of bracelets with matching metals (slim bungles and bicep bracelets are also great additions)

How To Make Your Jump Suit Pattern

Shoulder off everything is in style right now, and you can easily create your own jumpsuit with our off shoulder pattern and a sewing machine!

Don't pay a fortune for the same look you could make yourself-just follow our step-by-step instructions to create your own, perfect off-the-shoulder one-piece.

The first thing we're going to do is gather the necessary materials and tools for the job, which are:

  • Your Sara Off The Shoulder Jumpsuit Pattern
  • Preffered fabric
  • Color matching thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Interlining for the facings
  • 1 hidden zipper (40 cm)

Seam Allowance:

  • 2.5 cm for hem
  • 1 cm for the rest of the seams

Suggested fabrics:

To ensure a flattering fit, choose a medium weight woven fabric with 2-3% elasticity. For example, our sample is made of bi-stretch

How much fabric do you need for your off the shoulder jumpsuit pattern?

Below you'll find a handy chart designed to help you determine the correct amount of fabric needed for your size. This is based on a common width of between 140 and 150 centimeters, which is the average of most fabrics. If you are using a different width or pattern (like stripes, for example) just adjust the placement of pieces so that it fits correctly to the available width.

Important!

Have you ever made a beautiful garment, only to have it shrink in the wash? It's a common problem that can make all your hard work seem like a waste, but there is a simple way to avoid this disaster! We recommend testing the contraction of your fabric before cutting it -this will allow you to adjust your pattern accordingly! To do this, iron-steam the raw material at its maximum heat recommendation. Most fabrics have a heat recommendation printed on their care label

Sewing Instructions

Making your off the shoulder sewing pattern- Sewing Instructions

You're going to look hot in this overall with off shoulder sewing pattern that hugs your body in all the right places

So are you ready to sew an off the shoulder jumpsuit? I HOPE SO because this is going to be a blast. Follow these steps and you'll have your new favorite outfit in no time! I've broken down my process into three steps for a easier understanding.

Sewing the bodice

  • Using the pattern, copy the darts marks on the wrong side of the fabric for the front and back bodice pieces. Sew the darts and press them.
  • Sew the bodice center back seam by pinning together the 2 back bodice pieces (piece 2 & 3), right side to right side, matching notches. Press the seam open and neaten the outer edge with a 3-thread serger stitch.
  • Apply fusible interlining on the wrong side of the armhole facings (piece 8 &9) and overlock the outer edge. fig 1
  • Place the facings to the front and back armholes, right side to right side, matching the notches. Sew around the armhole to attach the facing, taking a 1 cm seam allowance. fig 2
  • Trim the facing side of the seam allowance down to half and clip out some V shapes in the seam allowance to reduce bulk.
  • Turn the facing into position on the wrong side. Topstitch the outer edge of the facing, to make it stay in place. fig 3
  • Take the top ruffle (piece 4) and pin the front and back bodice pieces, right side to right side, matching the notches. Sew the top part at 0.5 cm. fig4

  • Place the under ruffle (piece 5) and pin it, right side to wrong side of the bodice. Sew at 1 cm and press the seam open. Topstitch the under ruffle at 0.5 cm from the seam, catching the seam allowance in the stitch. fig 5
  • Roll the bust inside and sew the top and under ruffle at the bottom, right side to right side, matching the notches. Press the seam and turn the bust inside out, pulling from the side. Press the bottom of the ruffle. fig 6
  • Overlock the sides of the bust and ruffle. fig 7
  • Sew the left side seam of the bust, by pinning together the front and back bodice pieces, right side to right side and adding the ruffle sides in between. press the seam. fig 8

Sewing the pant legs

  • Using the pattern, copy the darts marks on the wrong side of the fabric for the back pant pieces.Sew the back darts and press them towards the center.

  • Sew the center back seam by pinning together the 2 back pant pieces, right side to right side, matching notches. Press the seam open and neaten the seam with a serger stitch.
  • Overlock the raw edges of the sides of front and back pants.
  • Pin the sides of the front and back piece together, right side to right side, matching notches. Sew the right side seam from the zipper notch-down, and the left side seam from the waist down. Iron the seam open. fig 1

  • Turn the hem up 2.5cm to the wrong side of the pants. Pin in place and sew by hand a hidden stitch or using a hidden stitch at the machine. fig 2
  • Pin the bottom of the bodice to the pants waist edge, right side to right side. Match the notches and sew at 1 cm. Press and neaten the seam allowance using a serger stitch.

Inserting the zipper

  • Apply a strip of fusible interlining tape on the wrong side of both side seam allowances to match the zipper placement.
  • Pin the zipper in place on the right side of the garment, right sides together. Undo the zipper and sew using a concealed zipper foot. fig 3
  • Zip up the zipper. Pin the other side of the zipper in place on the right side. Undo the zipper and sew in place using a concealed zipper foot. Press the zipper seam gently.
