How much fabric do you need for your diy peasant top pattern?
Using a width of 140-150cm, the table below outlines how much fabric you need for your size. The placement of the pieces will need to be adjusted to fit your available width if you will be working with a different fabric width or have a design that needs symetry (like stripes etc)

Check your contraction!
You should always wash your fabric before cutting it. This will ensure that the sizing is accurate and there won't be any shrinkage after the first wash. In addition, any excess dyes will be removed.
How To Sew It
Sewing An Oversized Puffed Sleeve Top Pattern - Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide to make your own garment with confidence. Today, let's sew a new top that you'll love wearing!
Sewing the bishop sleeve pattern
Sew the side seam of the sleeve, right sides together. Press and overlock the seam. fig 1
Take the sleeve and sew one row of gathers at 0.5 cm and the second row at 1.5 cm on the bottom part. Sew at a great pace and leave long tails of thread for gathering. fig 2
Gently pull on the two ends of the thread on the wrong side-the fabric will gather along the thread. fig 3
Take the wrist band casing piece and press it in half, lengthwise. Sew together the short ends, right side to right side, using a 1 cm seam allowance. Press the seam open.
Sew at 0.5 the raw edges of the wrist band casing, lengthwise, wrong sides together, leaving 3-4 cm open to insert the elastic
Place the bottom of the sleeve with the wrist band casing, right side to right side, raw edges aligned.
When all the gathers are in place, sew the sleeve and cuff together, using a 1 cm seam allowance and leaving 3-4 cm open to insert the elastic. Press the seam gently. fig 4
Insert the elastic and close the 3-4 cm left open. Overlock the seam. fig 5
Sewing the bust
Sew the front and back pieces together on the sides, right side to right side. Press the seam open and overlock. fig 6
Fold up the raw edge of the hem once ( 0.7 cm) and then fold again (0.7 cm). Press and pin in place. Sew using a straight stitch, close to folded edge. Press the hem. fig 7
Place the sleeve into the armhole, right side to right side. Match the notches and the underarm seams. Pin from the sleeve side.
Sew the sleeve in the armhole at 1 cm from the raw edge. Press gently and overlock the seam. fig 8
Cut a piece of 3.5 cm wide elastic to the required length and sew the ends overlapped 2 cm. fig 9

Divide the elastic in 4 and place a pin at every quarter. Place the elastic on the wrong side of the fabric and match the pins of the elastic with the notches on the top of the blouse. The fabric will be loose under the elastic
Place under the Serger machine and join the elastic to the fabric using a 3-thread serger stitch, stretching the fabric and elastic together as you do so. fig 10
Fold in the elastic to create a faux elastic casing and fix it in place with little top-stitches on the armhole seams, taking care to match the stitches. fig 11\

Congratulations! Your peasant top pattern is now a fashionable item that will get noticed everywhere you go.
